AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
Lash Extensions
Wash your Lash Extensions daily
Washing your lash extensions daily is essential for keeping both your lashes and your eyes healthy and your lashes long!
- Throughout the day, natural oils, sweat, dust, and makeup build up along the lash line. If this isn’t properly cleansed, it can lead to irritation, poor retention, and even infections like blepharitis.
- Clean lashes allow the extensions to stay fluffy and properly bonded, which actually helps them last longer. When buildup is left sitting on the lashes, it can weaken the adhesive and cause premature shedding.
- Daily cleansing also helps prevent bacteria from accumulating, keeping your natural lashes strong and your lash line healthy.
- Using a gentle, oil-free lash cleanser and a soft brush ensures your extensions stay clean without damaging them.
Clean lashes last longer, look better, and protect your eye health.
Brush your Lash Extensions daily
Brushing your lash extensions daily is key to keeping them looking neat, full, and well-maintained.
As you go about your day or sleep, lashes can twist or cross over.
Gently brushing them with a clean mascara wand helps realign each extension, keeping them fluffy and evenly spaced.
Regular brushing also prevents tangling, which can put strain on your natural lashes and lead to premature shedding. It helps you spot any buildup or debris early, so you can keep your lash line clean and healthy.
By taking a few seconds each day to brush your lashes, you’ll extend the life of your set and keep them looking fresh between fills.
It is recommended to brush your lashes at least 3 times a day.
Expect Natural Lash Shedding
- Your natural lashes shed as part of a healthy growth cycle, typically losing 2–5 natural lashes per day.
- As those natural lashes shed, the extensions attached to them will shed as well. This is completely normal.
- Hormones, medications, stress, and seasonal lash shedding can all affect retention. Let clients know that if their retention changes, it doesn't necessarily mean anything was done incorrectly—it can simply reflect changes in their natural lash cycle.
Lash Refills
To keep your lashes looking full and fresh, schedule refill appointments every 2–3 weeks.
Waiting too long between appointments may require a new full set rather than a fill.
Avoid Oil-Based Products
To maintain the longevity of your lash extensions, it’s important to avoid oil-based products around the eye area.
- The adhesive used to apply extensions is sensitive to oils, which can gradually break down the bond between the extension and your natural lash.
- When oil comes into contact with the lashes, it can weaken the adhesive, causing the extensions to loosen, slip, or fall out prematurely. This often results in poor retention and the need for more frequent infills.
For best results, I recommend using oil-free cleansers, makeup removers, and skincare products around the eye area.
These will help keep your lashes clean while preserving the longevity of the adhesive, allowing your extensions to have amazing retention!
Avoid Picking at your Lash Extensions
It’s very important not to pick or pull at your lash extensions.
- Each lash extension is precisely and carefully attached to one of your natural lashes, so pulling or picking on them can also pull out your natural lashes before they’re ready to shed.
- This can lead to damage such as lash thinning, lash gaps, or weakened / damaged natural lashes over time.
Picking and pulling on your extensions also affect your future sets and the durability of your lash set. Healthy natural lashes are essential for proper retention. - If you notice any twisting, lifting, or discomfort, please avoid picking and book a lash refill or a lash removal.
I’ll be happy to safely remove the extensions or adjust any lashes as needed.
Do not Apply Additional Lash Products on your Lash Extensions
To protect the integrity of your lash extensions, please do not apply mascara, waterproof mascara, strip lash adhesive, DIY lash clusters, or any bond and seal products to your extensions.
These products can interfere with the adhesive, cause premature shedding, and make proper cleansing and maintenance more difficult.
Be Gentle while applying Skincare
Apply moisturizers, serums, and sunscreen carefully around the eye area, avoiding direct contact with your lash line whenever possible.
Avoid Excessive Steam or Heat
- It is recommend to avoid saunas, or steam for the first 48 hours. Avoiding the sauna or facial steaming after a lash appointment is important because heat and steam can interfere with the lash adhesive.
- High temperatures and humidity can weaken the adhesive bond before it has fully cured, leading to poor retention and premature shedding of your extensions.
- Even after the initial curing period, frequent exposure to steam can still break down the adhesive over time, causing lashes to fall out faster than expected.
- Saunas and facial steamers can increase the chance of your lash extensions twisting or losing their shape.
- For best results, it’s recommended to avoid saunas or facial steamers for at least 24–48 hours after your appointment and limit frequent exposure afterward to help your lashes last longer.
Protect Your Lash Extensions While You Sleep
One of the most common factors that affects lash retention is your sleeping position. While it's completely normal to lose natural lashes as part of your lash growth cycle, consistent pressure and friction against your pillow can cause your extensions to shed prematurely.
If you tend to sleep on your left side, you may notice faster shedding on your left eye. Likewise, sleeping on your right side can lead to more shedding on your right eye. Clients who sleep on their stomach or with their face against the pillow often experience increased shedding on both eyes due to constant friction and compression.
To help maximize the longevity of your lash extensions, I highly recommend sleeping on your back whenever possible. If you're a side or stomach sleeper, our 3D Contoured Lash Sleeping Mask.
It's Designed with deep, contoured eye cups, it creates space around your lashes to help minimize pressure, reduce friction, and protect your lash extensions while you sleep. Not only does it help preserve your lash set, but it also provides a comfortable, light-blocking fit for a more restful night's sleep.
Small habits at home can make a big difference in your lash retention, helping you enjoy fuller, longer-lasting results between your fill appointments.
Lash Aftercare Tips
Proper lash aftercare is essential for maintaining the longevity and health of your eyelash extensions.
One of the most important steps is regularly washing your lashes, as it helps remove oils, dirt, makeup residue, and bacteria that get trapped in between the natural lash and the lash extension. The buildup weakens the adhesive bond.
When lashes aren’t kept clean, buildup along the lash line can cause extensions to shed prematurely and even lead to irritation or infection.
Gently cleansing your lashes not only supports better retention but also keeps your natural lashes and eyes healthy, ensuring your extensions stay fuller and last longer.
A healthy, long-lasting lash set begins with proper aftercare. Shop our lash aftercare kits or explore our aftercare essentials to maintain optimal lash retention and overall lash health.
Lash Maintenance Tips
Beautiful lash extensions don't end when you leave the studio! Following these simple tips will help keep your lashes looking full, healthy, and lasting as long as possible between appointments.
Clean Your Lashes Daily
Clean lashes are healthy lashes. Use a lash extension-safe cleanser every day to remove makeup, oil, dust, and debris that can build up along the lash line. Clean lashes improve retention and help prevent irritation or blepharitis.
Avoid Oil-Based Products
Oil-based cleansers, makeup removers, creams, and serums around the eye area can weaken the adhesive bond and cause your extensions to shed more quickly. Choose oil-free products whenever possible.
Don't Rub or Pick at Your Lashes
Avoid rubbing your eyes or pulling at your lash extensions. Picking at your lashes can damage your natural lashes and lead to premature shedding.
Brush Your Lashes Daily
Use a clean spoolie to gently brush your lashes each morning or whenever needed. This helps keep them neat, separated, and fluffy.
Be Mindful While Sleeping
Your sleeping position can affect your lash retention. Sleeping on your side or stomach may create friction against your pillow, causing uneven shedding. Sleeping on your back is ideal. If you're a side sleeper, consider using a 3D contoured lash sleep mask or a silk pillowcase to help reduce friction.
Avoid Excessive Heat & Steam
Frequent exposure to steam, saunas, hot yoga, or excessive heat can soften the adhesive over time and affect retention. Occasional exposure is perfectly fine, but prolonged heat may shorten the life of your lash extensions.
Skip Waterproof Mascara
Lash extensions are designed to eliminate the need for mascara. Waterproof formulas can be difficult to remove and may weaken the adhesive or damage your extensions during cleansing.
Never Curl Your Lash Extensions
Do not use a traditional eyelash curler on your extensions, as it can bend, damage, or pull out both the extensions and your natural lashes.
Be Gentle with Skincare
Apply moisturizers, serums, and sunscreen carefully around the eye area, avoiding direct contact with your lash line whenever possible.
Expect Natural Shedding
Your natural lashes shed as part of a healthy growth cycle, typically losing 2–5 natural lashes per day. As those natural lashes shed, the extensions attached to them will shed as well. This is completely normal.
Stay on a Fill Schedule
To keep your lashes looking full and fresh, schedule refill appointments every 2–3 weeks. Waiting too long between appointments may require a new full set rather than a fill.

For the first 24 hours
- Keep your brows completely dry. Avoid water, steam, sweat, swimming, saunas, and hot tubs.
- Do not apply makeup, skincare, oils, SPF, or cleansers directly on the brow area.
- Avoid cleansing directly over the brows during the first day.
- Avoid rubbing, scratching, or touching your brows.
- Avoid sleeping face down or placing pressure on your brows.
- Avoid all oils, including castor and jojoba oil. Oils can interfere with the dye as it continues to settle and may reduce the longevity of the skin stain.
After 24 hours
- Cleanse the brow area gently—avoid scrubbing.
- Avoid oil-based cleansers, cleansing balms, and heavy facial oils around the brows, as they can cause the dye to fade more quickly.
- Avoid exfoliating products, retinol, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and vitamin C directly on the brow area.
- Apply sunscreen around (not directly on) the brows when spending time outdoors, as UV exposure can contribute to colour fading.
- Avoid excessive rubbing or frequent touching of the brows until fully healed.
- Brush & Nourish your brows daily and apply a nourishing brow oil or conditioner as recommended.
To Help Your Colour Last Longer
- Cleanse your face gently around the brow area.
- Pat your brows dry instead of rubbing them with a towel.
- Avoid frequent exfoliation around the brows.
- If applying moisturizer or facial oils, keep them away from the brows whenever possible.
Brow Longevity
Tint longevity is based on your skincare, daily routine and lifestyle.
- The skin stain typically lasts up to 10 days, depending on your skin type, skincare routine, and lifestyle.
- The dye on the brow hairs typically lasts up to 6 weeks, depending on your natural hair cycle and aftercare.
- Results vary from person to person. Oily skin, frequent exfoliation, swimming, sun exposure, and active skincare ingredients may shorten the longevity of your hybrid dye.
Thank you for trusting me with your brows! I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment. 🤍
Brow Maintenance
- After the first 24 hours, apply a small amount of jojoba oil, castor oil, or a brow conditioning serum 2–3 times per week to help keep your brow hairs nourished, soft, and healthy.
- Avoid applying excessive amounts of products on the brows, especially if you want to prolong your hybrid dye stain on the skin.
